As powerful symbols of Europe’s reunification, two original segments of the Berlin Wall are prominently displayed in the symbolic heart of Schengen, near the Museum. One was a gift from the Berlin Senate in 2010; the other, added in 2015, features a peace dove and a portrait of Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union, known for his reforms that helped end the Cold War.
