About Schengen Museum

In recent years, the Schengen Museum has welcomed around 40,000 visitors annually. Located at the symbolic tripoint where Luxembourg, Germany, and France meet on the Moselle River, the museum is a vibrant place of European memory. It offers an interactive and multilingual experience that invites visitors to explore the evolution of borders, freedom of movement, and European integration. Designed for self-guided discovery, it engages visitors of all ages in an accessible and thought-provoking exploration of the Schengen Agreements — their origins, their impact, and their relevance for the future of the Schengen Area.

Our mission

The Schengen Museum and Tourist Office is run by Centre Européen Schengen asbl, a non-profit organization founded in 2004. Its mission is to promote tourism in the border region and to manage the Schengen Museum. Over the years, the museum has developed into a recognized centre for documentation and education, fostering dialogue, exchange, and international cooperation with a European outlook. Its unique location and its role in promoting European integration were officially recognized in 2017, when both the museum and the village of Schengen were awarded the European Heritage Label.
